IndiaRAP is the local road assessment program for India which is a collaboration between iRAP and the Asian Institute of Transport Development (AITD). IndiaRAP works with governments, development banks, mobility clubs, NGOs, research organisations and road safety stakeholders to make India’s roads safer – 3-star or better. It draws on local technical expertise and research from key national stakeholders. With the help of World Bank Global Road Safety Facility (GRSF) and Bloomberg Philanthropies, IndiaRAP is shaping government investment in safer road infrastructure across the country.
Position: IndiaRAP Road Safety Engineer
Objective
The IndiaRAP Road Safety Engineer should assist the team in delivering iRAP road assessments in India and other countries.
Key Responsibilities
As a Road Safety Engineer, you will be an integral part of our team, contributing to the iRAP assessments and delivering solutions to improve road safety. Your responsibilities will include:
- Learn the process of iRAP Star Rating and SRIP, including fatality estimation, economic analysis, iRAP accreditation and preparing detailed technical reports
- Conducting thorough iRAP safety assessments of road infrastructure
- Customization of the safety assessment to suit the local road infrastructure situation
- Analyzing and interpreting road crash data and other supporting data
- Collaborating with iRAP multidisciplinary team
- Participating in the project meeting, trainings, workshops and other events
- Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in RAP tools
Qualifications:
- Post-graduate degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Planning/Engineering
- 0 to 2 years of work experience in the field of road safety engineering.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in MS Office with excellent grip on data analysis using Excel worksheets
- Familiarity with iRAP tools, ViDA, Demonstrator, and having iRAP accreditation is an advantage
- Familiarity with road safety standards, regulations, and best practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
