In September 2020, the UN General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/74/299 “Improving global road safety”, proclaiming the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030, with the ambitious target of preventing at least 50% of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030.

The Plan has been developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Regional Commission, in cooperation with partners in the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration and other stakeholders.

It outlines the “what to do, how to do it and who to do it” to achieve the 12 Global Road Safety Performance Targets, calling on governments and partners to implement the Safe Systems Approach in the creation and implementation of strategies and programmes for road safety, sustainable mobility and urban design…. read more

About IndiaRAP

IndiaRAP, is the locally owned and led, globally supported road safety assessment programme for India tackling this vital public health issue. It has a vision for an India free of high risk roads. IndiaRAP was launched in 2017 as a collaboration between iRAP and the Asian Institute of Transport Development (AITD), generously supported by FedEx. IndiaRAP works with governments, development banks, mobility clubs, NGOs, research organisations and road safety stakeholders to make India’s roads safer – 3-star or better.

IndiaRAP supports partners in a range of ways including in the provision of training, access to iRAP accredited suppliers, support to undertake assessments, interpret results and development implementation strategies, before and after road upgrade evaluations, performance tracking and in the development of the investment case to save lives and serious injuries.

Over 3,300 Indian road safety practitioners have received iRAP training and India leads the world in the delivery of iRAP training courses. IndiaRAP training is free or low-cost and can be delivered virtually, in classroom format and during interactive site visits.
