Supporting a National Focus on Safer Roads

IndiaRAP has supported National Road Safety Month with a social media campaign and a range of presentations highlighting the impact of road traffic fatalities and injuries, the Business Case for Safer Roads and important priorities to eliminate high-risk roads in the year ahead.

Presentations and Advocacy

The IndiaRAP team participated and delivered technical sessions in the following events:

  • Road Safety Audit Training Course organized by SVNIT, Surat on 2 February
  • Road Safety Audit Training Course organized by MNIT, Jaipur on 2 February
  • Presentation at the Symposium for Safer Roads/Black Spots and Discussion on Plan for Rectification of Black Spots During Next One Year organized by MoRTH on 4 February
  • Road Safety Training organized by MIT World Peace University, Pune on 8 February
  • Inauguration of the IRF-India Chapter webinar series welcome and introduction address by Dr Subhamay Gangopadhyay on 9 February.

  • India Against Road Crash (#IARC) talk show hosted by Ms Prerna Arora Singh, CEO People’s Trust Jaipur. Watch Mr Harpreet Singh talking on safe school zone assessments conducted using Star Rating for Schools (SR4S) and how Avoid Accident NGO is helping the government to implement safer infrastructure around schools to make kids journey to school safer.
  • The talk show also hosted the International Road Assessment Programme for their Drive Safer – Mission Impossible Talk Show. Watch Mr Greg Smith, Managing Director of iRAP Strategic Projects talking on Safe Infrastructure.  Greg discusses how iRAP assessment surveys will be beneficial at the start of a road design and how it is a cost effective intervention to spent one rupee on improving safer road designs which could ultimately save ten times the social and health burden cost.
